Document handling

Compare supplier quotations without uploading documents

QuoteLens uses the browser on your device to read supported quotation files, calculate known totals and create reports. Choosing a file is not a server upload in this application.

What happens when you choose a file?

The browser reads your selected file into memory. Locally bundled CSV and PDF libraries extract supported content. You review the fields, confirm USD and generate the report on the same device. The quotation workspace has no document-upload endpoint, external OCR provider or AI extraction service.

Opening the website still downloads the application and fonts from its host. Those ordinary requests are different from transmitting quotation contents. The host may process connection metadata; the privacy notice explains this boundary.

What is retained?

The application does not save quotation contents in localStorage, sessionStorage, IndexedDB or a backend database. Clearing or reloading discards its working state. There is no recovery feature. A report you deliberately download is a separate file on your device, subject to your organization’s retention rules.

Use only files you are authorized to process. Browser extensions, a shared device, your Downloads folder and copies sent to colleagues are outside the application’s control. Local processing is a design choice, not a security certification.

Which documents work?

Version 1 supports two or three USD quotations as selectable-text PDF or CSV, up to 8 MB per file. Scanned/image-only PDFs, OCR and currency conversion are unsupported. PDF layouts vary: every extracted or inferred field requires review. Missing prices, specifications and tax amounts are not invented.

See the CSV examples and comparison-sheet guide for a structured source format. Start with the fictional demonstration before using a real procurement workflow.

What has been tested?

Automated checks exercise synthetic imports, review, comparisons, downloads and session clearing. Network checks observe requests during those workflows and check for external requests or document contents in URLs, request bodies and logs. Passing these tests is evidence about the tested workflows, not an independent audit or a guarantee for every browser or future change.

Broader cross-browser, accessibility and adversarial-document reviews remain outstanding. The tool is an early validation product. It does not certify technical suitability or recommend a supplier automatically.

Try the process with fictional documents

Open QuoteLens and choose Try sample comparison. Review the original text, confirm USD and export a report. The public guides and any future public-page advertising remain on a separate origin from the quotation workspace.
